About the project
Project Name: Self-aware data security for digital data sovereignty
An open source solution to enable data sovereignty by introducing data privacy and security policy portability and prototyping distributed data privacy and security policy management.
Team: Federico M. Facca, Giovanni Rimassa, Andrea Falconi, Gabriele Cerfoglio and Valerio Cantore
Data sovereignty is becoming more and more both an enabling requirement and key challenges in our digitalised society. In order to enable users to retain full control of the data they publish and share in third party applications, it is important that they can always define and govern access policies for the data they offer. Enriching existing data APIs with support for data owner control of data policies increases trust over such APIs and improves their interoperability.
The project will enable data sovereignty by introducing data privacy and security policy portability and prototyping distributed data privacy and security policy management, thus contributing to increase trust toward data sharing APIs and platforms. Approaches as the one proposed, increasing control by owners over their data and portability of data assets, are key to boost the establishment of trusted data spaces.
The project will deliver:
- An open standardized security & privacy data policies vocabulary.
- A middleware supporting distributed control and audit of security & privacy data policies by data owners.
Validation will be done with a selected Martel’s customer in the context of the Smart City domain.
